Treatment FAQ - Fractional Laser Rejuvenation

What is the Laser non-ablative collagen remodeling and rejuvenation procedure?
The procedure is an advanced way of improving skin complexion and appearance that requires only the touch of a sophisticated treatment tip to your skin. It is performed with an advanced Nd: YAG laser, and requires no incisions or recovery time.

Is it safe?
The procedure is very safe.

How does it work?
The procedure causes increases in temperature with significant thermal reaction at the level of deep dermal cells. These cells become activated and show an elevated metabolism with subsequent enzymes as well as growth factors activation. This will control the recruitment and proliferation of new cells that modulate the formation of new blood vessels and collagen formation and remodeling.

What is collagen?
Collagen is a building block that supports the structure of the skin. Over time, collagen becomes depleted or damaged by the sun or other environmental factors. The results are visible signs of aging such as loose skin and wrinkles.

Who is a candidate?
Both light and dark complexions may be treated. Patient on oral or topical retinoid, with an inflammatory skin disease or having any history of photosensitivity are not candidate for the procedure.

When will I see results?
In most patients, results appear gradually in two to six months, although some patients see an earlier response.

How long will the effects of the procedure last?
Recently published studies show that improvements continue for at least six months after a single treatment session. Other studies show that thermal collagen changes can last several years, depending on the rate of the aging process.

How many treatments will I need?
A single treatment has produced good results in a significant number of patients. However, a number of sessions may be needed. The doctor will assess the number and frequency of treatments required to achieve optimal results for your skin.

How long is the recovery time?
No downtime. Following the treatment, you can return to work and resume all regular activities immediately.
